It’s time to get signed up for Youth Summer Reading 2023. There are several things scheduled each week during June and July.
Come in and get your kiddos signed up.
Here’s how it works:
Read a book. Mark it on the log. Turn in the log and get entered for one of the weekly drawings.
Make your way through the “hive” map. Turn it in and get entered for one of the weekly drawings.
Complete the extra challenge sheet. Turn it in and get entered for one of the weekly drawings.
Weekly drawings: several names will be blindly pulled. Those people will be called and when they come in, they will spin the wheel and get a prize.
Easy Peasy.
Our theme this year is ALL TOGETHER NOW. So, in keeping with that theme, the kids will work together to create some beautiful and unique art. There is a white board in the children’s library. For each book that the kids check out, they can put a colored sticker anywhere they want on the white. I can’t wait to see what it looks like at the end. We will hang it up for all to admire upon completion.
We are also going to create a Dale Chihuly-inspired piece of art that will hang from the ceiling upon completion. The kids can color a plastic water bottle that will be added to the sculpture.
If you have any questions, feel free to stop in and see Lesa or call the library at 620-365-3262.
In August, we will have a wrap-up party.
Stay tuned for the exact date but at this time, we are looking at the first Friday in August.
Our Summer learning program encourages recreational reading throughout the summer to help children and teens combat summer learning loss, also called ‘summer slide.’ Learn more.
