- In Stitches: will meet every Monday at 6 pm
- Genealogy Assistance: will meet every Tuesday at 6-7:45 pm
- Tuesday, Jan. 6: SEKS Poetry is at 5:30 pm
- Wednesday, Jan. 7: Book Talk is at 2 pm
- Tuesday, Jan. 13: Dinner on a Dime will be meeting at 6 pm at the K-State Extension Office. We will now be meeting on the second Tuesday of the month
- Thursday, Jan. 15: Craft Night at 6 pm, register at the library
- Friday, Jan. 16: Old Timers Talk at 2 pm. We will now be meeting on the third Friday of the month.
- Monday, Jan. 19: We will be CLOSED for Martin Luther King Jr Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 9 am.
- Tuesday, Jan. 27: Humanities Kansas Declaration Conversation with Isaias J. McCaffery is at 7 pm in the Bowlus Creitz Recital Hall. The event is brought to you by The Bowlus Fine Arts Center, Allen County Historical Society, and Iola Public Library.
- Isaias J. McCaffery earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of Kansas in 1999. He served as professor of history at Independence Community College for 26 years and as of July 2025 is now ICC professor emeritus (after taking early retirement). He has now been elected to the college board of trustees. McCaffery is also adjunct professor of history for Southern New Hampshire University (15 years). He is a past president of the Kansas Association of Historians. His research interests include ethnic/minority communities on the Central Plains, environmental history, Kansas women, and Native Americans. He is a longtime member of the Humanities Kansas Speakers Bureau and a board member of the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center. McCaffery received the 2024 Edgar Langsdorf Award of Excellence in Writing from the Kansas Historical Society. He has authored many articles on local history and conducts walking and van tours that explore the heritage of old Independence.
