Iola Public Library Youth Services update:
Here’s what has been going on in the Youth Department in the last week.
Kid sprinkles:
Some little one left their summer shoes behind. I have them here if you would like them.
Someone left their pop-it bracelet. I have that here too.
Wednesday was Storytime in the yard! It was so nice outside. Storytime was all about birds. We talked about birds, read some funny books, did some bird songs and dances and then we made a bird kite! The kiddos enjoyed running around the big yard flying their birds. We also went on a nature scavenger hunt and then they used what they found to make a nature face. Such wonderful little artists!
Last Thursday, the kids made their own washer necklace. Some colored theirs with polish and some used permanent markers. We then tied them to a super colorful string. Ta-da! Good job y’all!
Yesterday, participants made Galaxy jars. They had so much fun and they turned out beautiful.
One little guy said, “I didn’t think this would be fun but I was wrong and I am glad I came!”.
I told him that he should never underestimate crafts and how fun they can be. He replied, “And never underestimate the LIBRARY!”
All in all, it was a fantabulous time!
We did our drawings yesterday and those who were drawn were notified and a couple have already come in and spun the wheel. Just waiting on the others.
This week’s Crafternoon, they will be making straw rockets.
The room will be filled with flying rockets, I’m sure.
