Flewharty-Powell Library Annex News

After exploring multiple options, the Iola Public Library Board decided that the property and outdoor space at the Annex, located at 211 East Street, is of greater value to the Library than the house.

In March 2026, the Board made the house available for ‘purchase’ to anyone willing to take on the expense of moving it. The house was not snatched up, as we had hoped, during that public bid process.

Ideally, we want to see the house moved off of the property. After that, we are open to giving individuals access to save or salvage architectural items from the house prior to demolition.
