We invite you and your family to visit the Library’s Family Play Space, developed and funded as a pilot project for the Southeast Kansas Library System (sekls.org).
This space is thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental needs of children and stresses the importance of learning through play. While the doll house and baby dolls were provided by a Thrive Allen County grant, the furniture and play equipment was provided by the Family Engagement in Public Library’s grant funded by the Kansas Children’s Cabinet in 2021.
Highlights include:
- Parent collection with books, brochures, and important community contact information to support parents and caregivers.
- Seating for caregivers and children, including a rocking chair.
- Board Books for pre-readers and the play space is next to our picture book collection.
- Creative and dress-up play kits.
- Baby dolls and doll house.
- Kitchen play set.
- Grocery story play set.
- Cars, trucks, play sets, puzzles, and more.
