April Is National Child Abuse Prevention Month

A BLUE pinwheel. What does this mean?
The blue pinwheel is the national symbol of child abuse prevention. So, with that in mind, the Iola Public Library would like our patrons to show their support by coming by the library and picking up one blue pinwheel symbolizing childhood happiness and whimsy and putting it in their yard or flower pot outside at home to show support and spread the word.

No Excuse For Abuse!
I would love to see many of these blue pinwheels showing all over town. I plan on wandering around Iola and taking photos when I see one. I hope to see all 100 spinning in our town!!
Will you display yours? I for sure will be!

National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Prevention services and supports developed by this collaboration can help to protect children and strengthen families. Iola Public Library is a Family Place Library. If you haven’t seen it, we invite you to bring your little one by and spend some time playing. Children learn through play.
