OLD-TIMERS TALKING, the chat group for seniors, meets 2:00 Fri., Feb. 20, in the meeting room. This time we'll be talking about the neighbors, reflecting on what these relationships have meant to us over the years, sharing good times and bad, helping each other when the going gets tough. Celebrating accomplishments, new babies, prayed-for rain. Pictured here is a birthday party shared with neighborhood kids in the Belfry school district in NE Allen County c. 1952; it was also a welcome social event for all the moms. Times have changed: many of us do not know our next-door neighbor; in the country, neighbors are far fewer and farther away. Television came into our living rooms around this time. TUES. Genealogy consultations with Marilyn, 6-7:45, genealogy room.
WED. Story time for library littles, with Lesa, 10:30, meeting room. ACRH Lunch & Learn, "Weight & Wellness", Dr. Samuel Wilcox; free program and light lunch, 12-1:00, meeting room. Call Courtney to reserve seat, 620-365-1021. Death Cafe,6:30, meeting room, talking about death to live more fully; coffee, dessert and conversation.
THUR. Youth Crochet, 6-7:00, library lounge with Jen.
FRI. Old-Timers Talking, senior chat group, "Neighbors" 2-3:00, meeting room with Colleen.
SAT. Stay & Play with Lesa, sensory andd other developmental play stations for infants to age 5, with parents.

PASSPORT TIPS FROM TECHWISE. Although IPL has application forms and acceptance agents to review applications, package them up, ship and track them, you can also find and print your forms from the government website: Travel.State.Gov.

The site has answers to all kinds of questions. When you have all your documents and have filled out your application, call 620-365-3262 for an appointment with a passport acceptance agent. An adult passport is $130, $30 more to expedite; the library charges $10 to take your picture. techwise@greenbush.org

STRAWBERRIES ON FRIDAY! Today local chocolatiers are busy stirring, baking, and dipping nearly 2 gal. of strawberries, all packed up and delivered to the library by 5:00 this evening. There Friends of the Library will be ready with the pretty paper, ribbons and dishes for display. By 9:00 in the morning when the doors open to the parking lot, the meeting room will be transformed in red and pink. And the whole place will smell like chocolate. ... See MoreSee Less
